A motorist filmed as a fireball erupted from a recycling plant in Cassington, UK, after a lightning strike hit the area on October 2.

Stuart and Fern Reid were driving along the A34 when they spotted a flash of light: "There had been lots of thunder and lightning for quite a bit of our journey.

The lightning started getting brighter and one flash lit up the sky around us in white, followed by an intense orange glow.

"We then saw that something had been struck by the lightning and had burst into flames.

"We could see by the velocity the flames were shooting upward that was was on fire was a gas of some kind being released from a container.

"Severn Trent said it was one of their digester tanks at their AD facility near Yarnton."

As of October 3, the blaze has been brought under control and authorities confirmed no one was injured.
