A tokay gecko escaped from a green snake's bite with the help of a friend.

The lizard's head was already caught between the 2ft-long serpent's jaws when another four-limbed reptile approached the rescue at the wall of a home in Rayong province, Thailand, on September 23.

Footage shows the bigger gecko threatening the green snake, which was busy trying to swallow the lizard. The snake used its tail to try and scare the other animal away but instead lost grip of its meal and fell, releasing the prey.

The snake, being robbed of its dinner, tried to hunt one of them down but eventually lost as the second lizard was bigger.

Green snakes are very thin and long snakes found mostly in trees and bushes but also on the ground during the day.

Meanwhile, tokay geckos are large nocturnal lizards native to Asia and some Pacific Islands. They are one of the largest living gecko species, with adults typically measuring 10 to 12 inches in total length.
