Artist erases Barbie's face and repaints it as the Little Mermaid played by Halle Bailey
An artist erased Barbie's face and repainted it to become Ariel of The Little Mermaid - as she appeared when played by Halle Bailey.
Footage shows Thansattha Traiyotee putting colours on the blank-faced doll using a small-tipped brush in Lopburi province, Thailand, on September 4.
She defined the details using acetone-dipped cotton swabs and even copied the live-action Disney film actress Halle Bailey's mole on top of the left eye. It resembled Halle Bailey, who was the first person of color to play Ariel.
Thansattha used a Reeves brand of acrylic and powder make-up paint before adding the braided red hair of the mermaid doll.
The Little Mermaid live-action is a 2023 American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a remake of the 1989 Disney animated film of the same name, which is loosely based on the 1837 Danish fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen.
A One-Of-A-Kind (OOAK) dolls - the ones that Thansattha makes - are unique and only produced in single units, often by artists who customise an existing commercial toy doll such as Barbie.
