A man held up a 5-year-old boy hanging from a second-floor window until his parents returned home to save him in southernChina.

The heroic video was filmed in Yongzhou City in Hunan Province on September 26.

A boy found himself precariously hanging from the second-floor window of a restaurant. With his small hands desperately clutching the window ledge and his toes barely gripping a flimsy plastic pipe, his strength was waning.

The 38-year-old man named Peng Guangwen, on his way to work and noticing the incident, acted swiftly. Since the restaurant was close to his workplace, he rushed back to his company, grabbed a ladder, and prepared to climb down to rescue the young boy.

Beneath the window was a fragile advertising sign, and it took several adjustments and manoeuvres for Peng to carefully reach the window's level and lift the child to safety.

According to Peng's recollection, the entire rescue took about ten minutes. During this tense time, the young boy expressed his fear of falling multiple times. However, Peng patiently reassured the child, telling him that his parents were on their way and would be there very soon.

When the boy's parents arrived, they rushed up to the restaurant, opened the door, and brought their child back inside. Subsequently, concerned bystanders below raised the ladder higher and lowered it to the ground, allowing Peng to descend safely from the advertising sign.

It was later revealed that the young boy dangling from the window was the son of the restaurant's owner, Mr Deng, aged 5. At the time of the incident, Mr and Mrs Deng were away on errands, leaving their child alone at home. They had planned to have breakfast after their errands, thinking that they would return to wake their son and take him to kindergarten.

a young boy found himself precariously hanging from the third-floor window of a restaurant. With his small hands desperately clutching the window ledge and his toes barely gripping a flimsy plastic pipe, his strength was waning.

They had no idea that their child had awakened on his own, discovered the absence of adults, and, feeling scared, had made his way to the balcony in an attempt to escape.

Nearby residents noticed the child's perilous situation and immediately contacted Deng through the phone number displayed on the restaurant's sign, urging them to return quickly and unlock the door to rescue their child. It was only then that the couple became aware of the situation and hurried back.

Deng expressed his gratitude, saying, "Without him (Peng Guangwen), our family could have faced unimaginable consequences if anything had happened to our child."

As of now, the boy has made a full recovery, and Deng is determined to express his gratitude in person and present a commemorative plaque to his rescuer.
