A metal rod flew from a truck and smashed the windscreen of a car driving behind.

Dashcam footage shows the hard object flinging off the back of the lorry and striking the glass, leaving crack marks along Bang Na Expressway in Samut Prakan, Thailand on September 1 afternoon.

Driver Nudee Saijai pulled over to check the damage as he and his wife were confused about what hit their Isuzu pickup truck until they reviewed the recording,

Meanwhile, the truck where the wood had come from already drove off, with the driver unaware that one of his cargo flew off.

The driver and his wife were unhurt, although their windscreen was broken. The other driver was still unidentified.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
