STORYLINE:
President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Felix Tshisekedi on Tuesday inaugurated the Sakania dry port in the DRC.
The Chinese-built mega project is currently the largest of its kind in Central Africa.
During his field inspection, Tshisekedi described the dry port of Sakania as a modern one, hoping it could serve as an example for other ports of the DRC.
The port is expected to constitute a new platform for trade and transport for the DRC.
SOUNDBITE (French): ALEXIS GISARO MUVUNI, DRC's minister of state for infrastructure and public works
"This port will benefit economic operators in general and mining operators in particular. It will allow users to reduce transit time at the border post. I believe this project serves as a model for all other cross-border road concession projects under development. (I would like to thank the Chinese company involved) for the quality work, which was carried out on time despite the health constraints linked to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Kinshasa.
