Anti ulez protesters camp overnight in residential area thinking, mistakenly, they're protesting outside Mayor Khan's home in Tooting, London, much to the annoyance of local families who needed to get their kids to sleep
Last weekend (September 30-October 1) a small group of anti ulez protesters from Surrey and outer London took up overnight residency in tents on a residential street in Tooting thinking they were protesting outside mayor Sadiq Khan's house. They were even heard pointing out which house he lived at to passers by (it's not his house or his road-he wouldn't have even heard the protest from where he lives!) The protest started at 10am, went on into the night, including protesters blowing vuvuzelas, keeping local families awake, and it started up again early the following day. Confusingly, it was billed as a hunger strike though the protesters brought a BBQ and burger van with them. And portaloos that are still in place several days after they left. Local people have been warned to expect them to return. If the anti ulez protesters want to turn people away from their cause then hijacking a residential road of families is a sure way to do it!
