Massive floods have continued to wreak havoc in northeastern India's Sikkim state.

Mangan, Pakyong, Namchi and Gangtok districts were particularly badly hit on October 4.

Shocking scenes showed the damage caused.

Severe rainfall led to the overflowing of the Teesta river, washing away parts of National Highway 10, along with several bridges and other structures.

The river was turned into a raging torrent surrounded by landslides, and nearby areas were innundated.

In Chungthang, a town in Mangan district, water from a river overflowed and entered into a residential area where it caused widespread wreckage.

Army officials rescued a man who was trapped underneath a collapsed building. He was saved by officials using an excavator.

Several were left injured as massive floods continued to wreak havoc in northeastern India's Sikkim.

This happened in several areas across the state, namely in Mangan, Pakyong, Namchi and Gangtok districts on October 4.

Shocking scenes showed the heavy damage caused by the flood. Water washed away a part in of the National Highway 10.

The raging waters flowed with ferocity and intensity in the whole area which was left completely flooded. In Chungthang, a town in Mangan district, water from a river overflowed and entered into a residential area where it caused widespread wreckage.

Army officials rescued a man who was trapped underneath the fallen structures in this flood. The rescued person was taken away from the spot by the officials using an excavator. 

Severe rainfall in the state led to the overflowing of the Teesta river which in turn washed away parts of the NH-10, several bridges and also other structures, impacting daily life. The districts of Mangan, Pakyong, Namchi and Gangtok have been severely affected as a result of this flood.
