This is the dramatic moment a motorcycle rider skidded out of control when she hit a large pothole on a road in Thailand.

The female rider had been driving along the Chaeng Watthana road in Nonthaburi province when she stumbled over the uneven pavement on October 4.

Dashcam footage shows how the woman nearly flew off her seat as she drove over the pothole, before careening toward the central road divider.

She was seen placing her feet on the road battling to regain her balance before slamming into the concrete barrier.

Shocked motorists and a security guard rushed over to check on the lady, who appeared to have fallen unconscious from the crash.

The pothole was blamed on previous repair work done on the road.

Authorities closed a lane on the road following the accident, local media reported.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
