Large quantity of naturally occurring foam seen at Kent lake, UK
A large quantity of naturally occurring lake foam was seen at a Kent, UK lake this morning (October 6).
The snow-like spectacle was seen at Barton's Point lake in Sheerness.
Lake foam occurs when the surface tension of water is decreased and air is mixed with it.
Decaying plants & animals create organic materials which can reduce the surface tension of water. When combined with strong wind & waves a slightly off-white foam is produced.
Because the foam can contain bacteria and chemicals it shouldn't be tampered with.
