This is the shocking moment a riderless motorcycle crashed into another motorist waiting at a junction in Thailand.

The ghost vehicle swerved out of control along the Phuttha Bucha Road in Bangkok when its driver was flung from his seat while overtaking a car on February 23.

CCTV footage shows the unmanned two-wheeler veering toward a zebra lane, where it knocked down a motorcyclist about to cross the intersection.

Authorities said two people were injured and taken to the Raj Burana Hospital and Suksawat Hospital. Two motorcycles and a car were also damaged.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
