Locals took part in a competitive eating game to promote tourism and local products in central Thailand.

Twenty-five teams from seven districts in Ang Thong province battled to see who could devour their food the fastest in the frantic contest held during a festival on February 23.

The participants were given a set of grilled snakehead fish, sun-dried catfish, four bananas, a box of salad, 40 quail eggs, and two bottles of water to wash down the feast.

The top three district representatives took home 3,000 THB, 2,000 THB, and 1,000 THB in cash.

Aside from the eating game, spectacular Thai folk dances, singing contests, and cultural performances from the Ang Thong College of Dramatic Arts were also held.

Tourists were able to sample local cuisine, and buy products sourced from local merchants and farmers.

Finally, visitors could enter a raffle, where they can win a pick-up truck, a motorcycle, gold necklaces, and other prizes.
