STORYLINE:

An official with Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has said that Türkiye has carried out several measures to attract Chinese tourists and meet their needs.

"We are carrying out several measures with public and private sector initiatives that are particularly important for Chinese tourists to move around more comfortably and have their needs met more smoothly when they come to our country."

According to Guler, Türkiye has made efforts to improve services to Chinese travelers, including the efforts to remove the language barrier.

"To attract more Chinese tourists, we increase the number of Chinese-speaking guides. In this regard, we have added Chinese as a course in the curriculum of tourism vocational colleges."

Türkiye's largest transportation hub, Istanbul Airport, was also granted the "China Friendly Airport" certificate in 2020.

"We attach great importance to the concept of China-friendliness, and to further develop and expand this notion. We are holding meetings with our ministry, the promotion agency, and the Chinese consulate and embassy here."

In Guler's view, the excellent bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative has also boosted the arrival of Chinese travelers.
