A herd of wild elephants which entered into a residential area to munch on a few crops before they were redirected into a reserve, in northeastern India's Assam.

This happened at the Abhoyjan Tea Estate in Marangi, Golaghat on October 5.

Visuals showed the herd of pachyderms making their way through the tea estate towards the reserve. The herd of elephants had to cross over a small water body on the way and the wild animals took a dip before coming out on the other side. The elephants grunted and snorted as they passed through the region. While some of them hastily crossed over, others took an extended period of time in the water to enjoy the dip in the sun, before eventually coming out and moving along. The herd also has many small elephants with the bigger ones taking care of them.

According to a report, they had entered the area after being aware that there would be crops present. These elephants then ate some of the crops before a few forest guards came in and redirected the herd towards the Nambar forest reserve.
