STORYLINE:

The Chinese embassy in Jordan on Saturday took part in the 59th charitable International Diplomatic Bazaar.

Held under the patronage of Jordanian Princess Basma Bint Talal, the event was designed to support underprivileged children with necessary education and shelter.

The Chinese embassy brought to the event a number of Chinese products including textiles, handcrafts, souvenirs and food.    
SOUNDBITE (Chinese): CHEN CHUANDONG, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan "Our embassy has been participating in the charity bazaar organized by Princess Basma for many years. China and Jordan are both countries with a tradition of charity. We participated in this event to express our friendly feelings towards the Jordanian people and to help people in need here. At the same time, this is also a very good opportunity to showcase our profound traditional Chinese culture. You can see that the products we sell, including Chinese food, are full of Chinese characteristics and very popular."

The funds raised during the bazaar will further enhance the educational and service programs offered to these children, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
