Nearly 30 journalists from 22 countries concluded a five-day trip to southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region on Saturday, during which they interviewed local residents and officials, and witnessed the region's robust development and diverse culture.

The trip, which started on Tuesday, took the journalists to various places in the regional capital of Lhasa and the city of Nyingchi. They also attended an international cooperation forum from Wednesday to Friday.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): ALI ABBAS, Senior reporter with Pakistan's City News Network
"The Chinese government is spending a lot of money for the development and the social infrastructure. That's very good. People are living a very modern (life). They have 5G here. They have an efficient online payment system here. The social development is really good and I'm really impressed and want to appreciate the Chinese government. They are doing a lot of things for the people."

Upon learning that Tibet has achieved overall carbon neutrality, foreign journalists expressed their gratitude.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): UERETAN BAURO, Editor of Uekera newspaper of the Republic of Kiribati
"We just thank the Tibetan people and of course the government of China. We want to tell the world, especially those who produce too much greenhouse gas, to please lower their carbon release."

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and many journalists kept mentioning the BRI during their conversations with local residents.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): MARIA SANHUEZA, Chilean newspaper "El Ciudadano"
"Most of Latin American countries are part of this cooperation (BRI). Chile is actually a pioneer because it was one of the first countries who entered. I think that the whole world is shifting towards another type of order. Call it multilateralism. I think it's something to praise and to encourage. Because we need it very urgently."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): ALI ABBAS, Senior reporter with Pakistan's City News Network
"For me, BRI is not just for the construction of roads. BRI is also connecting the people, connecting the culture. It's a very good concept for Pakistan. The CPEC, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project is a very important project. And being a journalist, I'm really thankful, on behalf of my country, the people of my country, this project is very, very impressive. It's a very good project. It's the future of our nation."
