Race to rescue survivors after earthquake decimates Afghanistan's Herat

Emergency teams in Herat Province, Afghanistan, are racing against time to rescue survivors after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake rocked the area.

Footage filmed by local journalist Nazir Ahmad Hashimi in Siah Ab in the Zinda Jan district shows locals inspecting the damage.

According to Hashimi, around 1,600 people live in the village and around 85 per cent are missing or injured.

More than 1,000 are feared dead in the province.
