A spectacular Gundam robot event is making its debut in Thailand with two colossal six-metre-tall futuristic statues on display.

The Gundam Docks exhibition is taking place at CentralWorld shopping mall in Bangkok and will run from October 6 to October 29.

Visitors can explore an exhibition showcasing Gundam models, including the towering six-metre-tall statues of the RX-78-2 GUNDAM and MS-06S ZAKU.

Simultaneously, the Gunpla Builders World Cup 11th Tournament is being held to identify the finest modellers in each class, which includes U-14, U-20, and Over-21 categories.

The winners in each class will have the opportunity to compete in the Gunpla Makers World Congress copetition.

Additionally, novice modellers have the opportunity to participate in a workshop activity that offers free model kits during the event.

The event also offers four exclusive items as well as 10 event-limited items that can only be purchased at Gundam Docks exhibitions.

The event is accessible to the general public for free, from 10 AM to 10 PM.

In order to manage the number of visitors, the event distributed a limited number of admission tickets. Three hundred tickets were provided for 11 rounds. However, on the opening day, a total of 800 tickets were allocated across three rounds.

Gundam is part of an anime franchise created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. The genre-defining Gundam franchise is an influential sci-fi war drama that popularised the use of giant mecha robots in Japanese animations.

According to data from Business Wire, the Gundam franchise had amassed more than five billion dollars in global sales by the year 2000.

By 2018, Gundam had become one of the top 15 highest-grossing media franchises of all time with more than 20 billion dollars in total revenue.

The creation is now owned by Bandai Namco Holdings.
