Massive monitor lizard raids store before being chased out by workers
A massive monitor lizard raided a store before being chased out by workers.
Footage shows the 6ft-long reptile casually crawling into the establishment as a frantic local can be heard informing the people inside in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 9.
It tried to hide under the shelves but had nowhere to go because of its big size.
The animal then left as a man scared it out with a broom until residents finally caught it as it wandered along the street outside.
Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.
The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
