A man has gone viral sharing shocking footage of a weight attached to his skull after he broke his neck in a motorcycle accident – and walked out of hospital just nine days later.

Twenty-nine-year-old Cam works as a content creator alongside his partner, Alycia Heart, 28.

Originally from New Zealand, the influencer now lives in Thailand and earlier this year was involved in a terrifying accident.

Riding a scooter, he “came off the road” and was later discovered in a ditch by locals.

Rushed to hospital, doctors found Cam had broken his neck a the C6 and C7 vertebrae, a well as broken his spine, two ribs and had a 28cm laceration across his skull.

Wanting to share his experience with his 27,900 TikTok followers (@inkedcam ), he recently shared a video of himself in recovery – and it’s not a video for the faint-hearted.

“I was rushed to hospital in the back of a pick-up truck with my feet hanging out the end,” Cam told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“From the time I got to hospital to the time I discharged myself was nine days in total.

“The first 48 hours were unknown, laying in the intensive care not knowing if I’d ever walk again, getting my scans done and finding out what surgeries I would need.

“To try pull my vertebrae back to where it was they used [a] traditional traction method on my head.

“It was drilled into my head while I was awake and 8kg was hung from it.

“It was a surreal experience, of course, [since I was] on medication I didn’t feel too much.

“[…] I remember everything.”

The video has over 12.9 million views and 341,000 likes, as well as plenty of comments.

One person said: “This looks like some ancient ritual.”

Dustyn added: “Mind workout.”

Robby commented: “Ouch dude, heal up bud.” [sic]

“What kind of lobotomy is this,” wrote one user.

“Did it hurt sir since they drilled it in your head while you were awake,” added someone else.

“THAT MUST HURT,” said Kells.

Unfortunately the method alone wasn’t enough, so four days later doctors decided to perform spinal fusion surgery on Cam.

He said: “This involved insertions at the front and back of my neck.

“The first time going to theatre I got turned away as they didn’t have clean utensils, they had to be delivered from another hospital.

“The surgery happened 72 hours after the accident.

“On the ninth day, I discharged myself from hospital.

“I was still in really bad condition but I have the mindset to keep moving forward.

“All my rehabilitation I done myself in the pool at our villa and my partner took care and cleaned my wounds, did all the the things for me I couldn’t do, she’s an amazing woman!

“I felt around 95% six weeks after my accident; I was back in the gym, continuing my routine and going on with business.

“I’m very lucky that I recovered this fast, not many people do from such a serious accident. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t fit and healthy when the accident happened and it would have been 10 times harder if I didn’t have my beautiful partner.”
