The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, held on Tuesday a preview event of an exhibition titled "Van Gogh along the Seine," showcasing a collection of 75 artworks that unite Vincent van Gogh and his artistic peers.
  
Collaborating with the Art Institute of Chicago, this carefully curated collection will transport art enthusiasts back to a pivotal period in Vincent van Gogh's artistic journey.
  
"Van Gogh along the Seine" pays homage to the transformative period when the iconic Dutch painter ventured to France and was captivated by the serene beauty of the Seine River, particularly around the town of Asnieres and its picturesque environs.
  
This picturesque locale along the Seine held profound significance for Van Gogh and his contemporaries, including Paul Signac, Georges Seurat, Emile Bernard, and Charles Angrand. Here, they discovered fresh, modern motifs that inspired innovative approaches to color and painting techniques.
  
Among the standout pieces are Van Gogh's "Fishing in Spring," a masterpiece that captures the essence of the Seine's allure, as well as "The Pont de Clichy."
  
In a letter to one of his sisters in late autumn 1887, Van Gogh made a revealing comment about his time painting outside of Paris: "And when I painted landscape in Asnieres this summer I saw more color in it than before."
  
The exhibition will open to the public from October 13, 2023, to January 14, 2024.
