The 2th street tunnel enhancing an iconic location with LED lights
The LED lights in the 2nd Street Tunnel** were installed to provide more flexible lighting options for film production and engage Los Angeles residents . The lighting system was designed by **Forman & Associated in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting .The idea was to simultaneously recreate historical lighting and provide dramatic color lighting inside the west end entrance of the tunnel . The white, ‘stepped’ columns located in that section of the tunnel serve as a perfect canvas on which to display colorful light . The lighting system consists of *Color Kinetics Blast IntelliHue Powercore and Vaya Tube, RGB luminaires that are mounted on the ceiling in sets of four for each ‘step’ of the architecture to illuminate the white columns, while two Vaya Tube 1.2 m (4 ft) fixtures mounted adjacent to each set of the Blasts provide accent lighting on the ceiling .The dynamic, color-changing system provides the ultimate display flexibility for filming with uniform, high-quality, intelligent white, pastel, and saturated color light These dynamic full-color light displays will also be used to represent Los Angeles sports teams and to mark a variety of holidays, events, and special occasions
