Wildlife rescuers remove huge 14ft python coiled on ceiling of car dealership
Wildlife rescuers removed a huge python that was coiled up in the ceiling of a secondhand car dealership in Thailand.
The rescue team received a request to catch the python when workers spotted it slithering on a metal beam 33ft above the ground on October 9.
The crew brought in a boom lift to reach the snake's perch, then spent 10 minutes carefully trying to grab it by the neck with a snare. They had difficulties as the python was tightly wound around the beam in Phetchabun province.
When the beast was finally caught, the specialists brought it to the ground, where it slipped out of the noose and tried to escape. However, the rescuers managed to pin it down and stuffed it inside a sack to be hauled back into nature.
The team said it weighed 11kg and was around 14ft long.
Mon, a mechanic at the repair shop, said he was terrified when he saw the python hanging over the work area, so he called the rescue team to remove it.
He said: 'The snake was so large that I had goosebumps when I saw it. I don't know where it came from, but we were lucky it didn't fall down.'
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
