Residents in western China were left startled and in awe as the dark sky unexpectedly turned as bright as daytime at 2:00 am.

Bizarre CCTV footage filmed in Menyuan Hui Autonomous County in Qinghai Province on October 8 shows a sudden burst of luminance, illuminating the night sky.

A moving light source can be clearly discerned in the video, which subsequently causes shadow shifts on the ground and it lasted for about three seconds.

Officials have yet to provide a comprehensive explanation for the mystifying occurrence. A representative from Menyuan County's Emergency Management Department confirmed their awareness of the incident on the morning of October 11. "We have noticed the related event, but it would be premature to draw any conclusions at this point," the representative stated, also suggesting that this phenomenon did not appear to be man-made. They recommended reaching out to the meteorological department for potential insights.

However, further mystery surrounds the event as a staff member from the Menyuan County Meteorological Department confirmed their knowledge of the incident but added a puzzling twist. "All our observational data was normal at that time," they mentioned, expressing that they too were unable to provide an explanation for the event.

As locals and officials alike ponder over the unexplained brilliance that turned night into day, the event remains shrouded in mystery, with many eagerly awaiting answers.
