A family has spent £500 giving their home a spooky makeover for Halloween.

Fiona Nicoll has already kitted out their three-bedroom house a month before trick-and-treaters hit the door.

The mum-of-two bought beef netting – used by butchers – for the DIY cobweb.

She stretched it out and poked holes with scissors to give it a realistic look.

Her partner Simon Nunn, 49, attached the webbing to the house before pinning it down with tent pegs.

The couple, of Angus, east Scotland, bought dozens of toy spiders on eBay to pop on the display.

They made a large arachnid on the front lawn using yoga balls, spray foam and plastic piping.

He took three days to make.

Electrician Simon then added skeletons in the outdoor play area along with fairy lights – to make the display light up at night.

It has gone down a hit with their boys Harry, four and three-year-old Jack.

Halloween enthusiast Fiona, 41, said: “We did it for the first time last year and were amazed by the response.

“So we thought we’d do it again this year.

“We sourced beef netting and cut in and stretched it out to get the cobweb look.

“Most people’s responses have been ‘Oh my God’ which has been great.

“We do it because it’s lovely to see the reaction from the community.

“If we can spread a bit of cheer then that’s all we want.”

Local Sheena Clark said: “I’ll be having nightmares now.”

Alana Jones said: “That's fantastic, I'm glad I'm not your postman though you’d never get your letters.”

Samantha Squirrell said: “My fear would be that all those fake spiders would bring real spiders to my house. Looks fab though.”

Kirsty Smith said: “I'm so glad I don't live by you this is literally my worst nightmare.

“I've gone all cold just from the pic.

“Amazing job though.”

Aimee Irwin said: “I’m thankful for being so far away from your house.

“This is literally a scene from my nightmares.”

Karen Cogger added: “Wow. That's awesome.”
