The tension is still in force in Guatemala: there are more than 100 blockades that remain throughout the country, despite the fact that the president and the Justice Department demanded that they be lifted.

"All acts outside the law will not be tolerated, blockades are illegal," he said in a message to the nation, Alejandro Giammattei. Even so, protests persist to demand the resignation of different actors in the Justice Department and in defense of the elected president.

In this framework, Bernardo Arevalo asked to “listen to the population” and “stop protecting officials who threaten the electoral process.”
