Quick-thinking doctor performs Heimlich manoeuvre to save choking boy in China
A quick-thinking doctor performed the Heimlich manoeuvre to save a choking toddler in southern China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Yongzhou City in Hunan Province on October 10.
A 2-year-old boy was left gasping for air after a milk flake - larger than an adult thumb - became lodged in his throat. The toddler's panic-stricken parents raced to a nearby clinic with their son in their arms, desperately seeking assistance.
Deng Haiying, the attending physician at the clinic, was their beacon of hope. Without hesitation, she used the Heimlich manoeuvre to aid the distressed child. The boy's face was turning black due to the obstruction, recounted Deng, stressing the gravity of the situation.
But thanks to her swift and decisive actions, within 40 seconds, the oversized milk flake was forced out, and the boy's life was spared from a perilous choking hazard. The young boy is now reported to be in stable condition.
