Tensions remain high in France stemming from pension reform proposals.

On 13 October 2023, several thousand French people demonstrated in Paris against pension reform and inflation, against a backdrop of conflict between Palestine and Israel. The first images show violent arrests of demonstrators (many of them black block members) by the police, who have turned out in large numbers. Scenes of police violence can be seen, with some people being knocked to the ground.
