A senior Eritrean official has spoken highly of the China-Eritrea relation in a recent interview with Xinhua, noting that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) would further propel the two countries' relations to new heights.

"This is a bilateral relationship that decades on has been growing with time. So it will expand. The Belt and Road Initiative will only add to an existing relationship.
Infrastructure is critical. So investments in infrastructure (and) support in infrastructure is good because it creates an enabling environment.
When it comes to the arrangements, you can envisage various projects and programs that are responsive to the times. The Belt and Road Initiative is one initiative but you can also envisage various initiatives."
