Cavelossim is one of the several beaches in Indian state of Goa which attract tourists, it is basically a fishing village as it is surrounded by River Sal and Arabian Sea, but some of the traditional fisherman have given up on their fishing business and are into full time tourism activities.
Toddy tapping also used to be another traditional occupation but that too has died a natural death in the village, first with the start of the five-star hotel in the locality, which meant toddy tappers who had access to the coconut tress where denied access and also those trees where cut for the construction of the star hotels.
Cattle Farming is rare in Cavelossim but one family is doing it against all odds.
