This flood-hit restaurant has become a hit with diners who enjoyed their meals as a swollen river lapped at their feet.

The Chaopraya Antique Cafe is flooded every year as seasonal storms fill the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi province, Thailand.

But instead of driving away customers, the annual inundation has turned the riverside restaurant into an unlikely tourist spot, with foodies tucking into dinner on the restaurant's waterlogged deck.

On Friday, October 13, locals were tucking into their evening meals while the river water tickled their toes.

The eatery offers 450-650 THB buffets, with Thai barbecue among its most popular dishes.

Staff have said that the water level peaks during the evenings, but there were sanitary and safety measures in place.

Customers can also wash their feet before leaving the building, while the parking area is unaffected by floods as it is located at a higher elevation.

Local media reported that the Chao Phraya River has recently burst its banks, submerging around 200 homes, fields, and plantations in up to 28 inches of flood Ayutthaya on October 15.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.

Bangkok and large parts of the north and northeast of the country have been swamped with flash floods from tropical thunderstorms.
