Karang Mumus is a stream of the Mahakam River, largest river in East Kalimantan province, with a flow length of 34.7 kilometers. This river is the main source of drinking water and become one of the water transportation routes for residents in Samarinda. But later, according to Environment Agency (BLH) Samarinda, the water quality of the Karang Mumus River has been heavily polluted from household waste that exceeds the normal threshold. Now Karang Mumus is similiar as a giant garbage bin for the city's residents. This such an ironic since Samarinda is located close to New Capital City of Indonesia which is IKN Nusantara.
