The first official data from the elections in Poland, with 50% counted, grant 38.3% of the votes to the government party, the ultra-conservative Law and Justice, a wider advantage than the exit polls of this Sunday, but that would not be enough to form a government.

In second place, the Civic Platform of the liberal opposition Donald Tusk has collected 27.8% of the votes, while the center Third Way coalition obtains, for now, 14.4% of the support. The Left and the Confederation ultranationalists are currently assigned 8.2% and 7.3%, respectively.

These results differ significantly from the exit poll released at the close of election day, which unleashed euphoria among the opposition at the possibility of forming a multiparty alliance to oust Law and Justice, which has governed since 2015, from power.
