Acheologists discover an intact cemetery of mummies in Menia Governorate, Egypt
An extraordinary archaeological discovery has occurred in Egypt. It is an intact burial site that was a cemetery for priests and important officials of the so-called New Kingdom, which occurred between 1550 and 1070 BC.
A team of archaeologists found it and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of that country has spread the news. The scientific research is led by Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt.
The news was given at the archaeological site of El-Ghoreifa, in Tuna Al-Gebel, Minya province. "This is the first time that a New Kingdom necropolis has been found in the region, a discovery that sheds new light on this period of Egyptian history. The large cemetery contains numerous monumental tombs carved into the rock" and also mummies, they reported.
This footage illustrates the cemetery and archaeological objects in Menia Governorate, Egypt.
