Explorer finds abandoned home with hidden box containing WWII medals
An urban explorer has discovered an abandoned home, with a hidden golden box filled with medals from WWII, as well as vintage toys and a $100 bill.
Dave, known online as Freaktography, was shocked to find such valuable memorabilia when exploring the property.
He found everything intact, with a large video collection, children's toys, and clothes left behind.
Sharing his findings on YouTube, he gathered over 3,100 views from curious followers.
“I headed there for a daytime visit and the feeling was definitely eerie, almost like someone was going to walk in at any moment,” Dave, from Ontario, Canada, told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk .
“The others who had been here before us failed to notice the small gold case in a bedroom that contained war medals and other pins.
“They also didn’t find the 1954 $100 bill that was in a dresser drawer under the medals.
“I took my pictures and then hid these items in a different spot and told only a few of my trusted friends, one of those friends hid them even better on a visit not long after.
“The basement was fantastic, full of old toys from the 1980s, old Barbie Dolls, the Fisher-Price barn set and so much more!”
Located in Ontario, Canada, Dave discovered a hidden gold case in one of the bedrooms, finding five war medals inside.
These included the Defence Medal and The Star, dated from 1939 to 1945.
Travelling down to the basement, there were tonnes of old toys from the 1980s, including Barbie dolls, a Fisher-Price barn house, and a small kitchen.
One of the sofas in the house had been propped up onto the wall at a strange angle.
Sharing his find on YouTube, people rushed to comment on the incredible find.
“Those medals should go to a legion and be protected, someone will not be so honest, great video!” said one viewer.
“Oh, what a shame. Nice house Dave.
“Great toys… Saw the creepy doll in the stroller.
“I cannot remember if we had that Fisher Price Farm.
“ It mooed, cute.
“Great explore Dave, bummer we didnt get to see you excercise,” wrote Claire. [sic]
Another person added: “OMG everytime i see our old paper money it makes me feel nostalgic! lol. I almost always forget that thats how it used to look...” [sic]
Charlotte commented: “I always wonder how/why something abandoned like that.
“And elec still on!! Someones paying the bills.
“Why let the house deteriorate like that.” [sic]
“What a cute home. Could you possibly bring those medals to a legion? Maybe the rightful ppl to have them would get them back,” said Debbie. [sic]
