Officers of the Indian Army came to the aid of a State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus carrying passengers, after it was stranded in heavy snowfall, in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

This happened near Sadhna, Kupwara on October 16.

Visuals showed heavy snowfall in the area and the bus was stuck in it. A recovery truck was used to rescue the stranded bus with passengers inside. A chain was used to connect both the vehicles as the recovery truck pulled forward with the bus following in the difficult weather conditions. Officials also were seen at the spot, overseeing this process and ensuring that everyone was safe. Braving the harsh weather, the bus along with passengers inside, were successfully rescued.

It was due to swift action taken by the Indian Army that the bus was able to be freed after it was stranded in the heavy snow. All passengers inside the vehicle were evacuated safely and the operation went smoothly without any major hiccups. Also, in another development, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the higher altitudes would likely experience moderate snowfall while the plains in Jammu and Kashmir would witness rainfall. The advisory also has urged people from venturing into the Machill, Jumugund, Keran, Karnah, Budnamal, Nowgam and Kumkad areas unless there's an improvement in the weather.
