Dog with head poking through concrete wall rescued by locals
A stranded stray dog with its head poking through a concrete wall was rescued when it was seen by concerned locals.
The homeless pooch was heard crying throughout the night by Mattana Dangsing in her back garden in Phetchaburi province, southern Thailand on October 15.
Mattana checked in the morning called her husband Natthaphon for help to save the mutt. He took a hammer and chisel to break the concrete. It took several minutes but the hound was eventually released and given fresh water and bread by the family.
The housewife said the dog had been wandering around the wasteland behind their home and tried to crawl through a small hole in the breeze block wall, where it became stuck.
They have now adopted the pooch.
Mattana said: 'I don't know whose dog it was. We followed the sound until we found the exact spot. We gave it food to eat first so it could regain strength and trust us more easily. Now the dog is safe and we'll look after him unless his owner is found.'
Thailand, a largely Buddhist nation, believes that kindness towards animals should be encouraged, with temples sometimes serving as a safe refuge for stray cats, dogs, and even monkeys that don't have homes.
