The delay in the start of the rainy season as a result of extreme weather and El Niño is starting to have an impact on the drying up of a number of community water sources in South Padang District, Padang City.

More than 2,000 families in Padang District have been affected by the drought, which has occurred since early September 2023.

To meet the clean water needs of communities experiencing drought, the Padang City Regional Disaster Management Agency distributed thousands of liters of clean water to the community. The distribution of clean water is carried out on a rotating basis in various sub-districts every day.

The distribution of clean water is carried out at one point in each sub-district, so residents who live in locations quite far from the clean water collection point have to walk to get the water supply.
