Collectors rush into shopping mall for limited edition Russian doll toy
This is the chaotic moment impatient collectors rushed into a mall to buy a limited-edition Russian doll toy in Thailand.
Footage shows frantic buyers surging into the Central World mall in Bangkok to avail of Chinese toymaker Pop Mart's 'Crybaby My Russian Doll' figurines which went on sale on October 13.
Several customers were seen barreling past the security scanner at the entrance, with some people tripping over themselves in the frenzy.
Shoppers were required to buy 2,000 THB (55 USD) of Pop Mart products to be eligible to buy the dolls.
However, Pop Mart temporarily halted sales as the collectors reportedly violated the rules by entering the mall before the store's opening hours. It later opened advanced reservations via messaging application LINE on October 14.
Pop Mart Central World was met with a similar uproar when it opened its first brick and mortar store in Thailand on September 20. Crowds of toy fanatics had broken through barricades and security tape to buy the rare collectibles.
Pop Mart from China gained popularity for selling 'designer' toys that are sold in mystery 'blind boxes' that conceal the figures inside.
