A group of young people have taken to the streets of Indonesia to raise money for the victims of the Palestinian-Israeli war.

Footage filmed in Agam district, West Sumatra province, today (October 18) shows the locals, who call themselves Disaster Alert Group (KSB), standing in the middle of the road in the Padang Lua market area.

Carrying a box marked 'Care for Palestine', the young volunteers were collecting donations from passing motorcyclists and car passengers.

Occasionally a large lorry would pass by, almost touching the man on the road.

Ronald Candra, chairman of KSB, said the week-long fundraising campaign was being carried out in the hope of easing the burden of war victims in Palestine.

"On the culmination day, the funds collected will be handed over to the National Committee for the Palestinian People (KNRP) for direct distribution to Palestine," Candra added.

The rally was also filled with prayers for peace in the Middle East and Palestinian independence.
