Filthy floodwater cascaded into a restaurant during a storm in eastern Thailand.

Muddy torrents rushed into the fish dumpling eatery as heavy rain battered Rayong province on October 18. Diners pulled their feet up on their seats to keep their shoes from being drenched.

The Thai Meteorological Department said on Wednesday that a monsoon trough was passing over the upper southern and eastern regions of the country. Thunderstorms were forecasted in the eastern provinces, including Chonburi, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Rayong.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.

Bangkok and large parts of the north and northeast of the country have been swamped with flash floods from tropical thunderstorms.
