Driver reveres into people eating outside restaurant in China
A female driver reversed into a table full of people eating outside a restaurant when she accident put the car in the wrong gear.
CCTV footage shows the driver suddenly reversing at speed through a car park in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province in southern China at around 11:30 pm on October 13.
A group of six people were sitting on a table by the roadside and enjoying a meal. But their meal came to an abrupt end when the black car rammed into their table, knocking it down and running over the group.
Two of them managed to back away in time and jump to safety while the rest were pushed towards the wall of the eaterie before the vehicle came to a stop.
Another party of diners sitting on the next table also jumped out of their seats and narrowly dodged the danger. Then they all ran over to help those who were struck. No casualties have been reported.
According to witnesses, no one was seriously injured. It is unclear if the woman behind the wheel, who was not named, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
She reportedly had the automatic transmission car in reverse when she stepped on the accelerator by mistake while she was fastening her seatbelt.
Police investigating the crash said the exact cause will be determined when she has been interviewed along with the injured diners.
