Tigress terrorises locals in northern India, captured

A tigress was captured by the forest department after it had terrorised locals in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

This incident happened in Jamunia Khaspur village in Pilibhit district of the state on October 17.

Visuals showed the efforts that were made to capture the wild animal. Some men had held out a net in the open with the tiger beneath it. One man was seen trying to cover the tiger with a piece of cloth but it was not expectedly possible with the wild animal escaping every time and wreaking havoc. The big cat was eventually captured by the forest department after it was tranquilised. It was later released into the wild after it was captured.

According to a report, the locals complained to the forest department about this tiger and the officials installed nets in the sugarcane field to capture the animal. A team led by DFO Sanjeev Kumar reached the location and conducted the rescue operation. Dr Daksh Gangwar of the Pilibhit Forest Reserve tranquilised the tiger and it was captured. The rescue ended after two hours of hard work.The wild animal, aged three years old, was found to be healthy.

After the rescue, the tigress was released in the core area of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve on October 18.
