Drone footage has emerged from SW Scotland showing the scale of floods as they hit the area.

The video, captured above the town of Castle Douglas, shows the severe flooding across roads, fields and buildings on New Year's Eve.

This video was filmed over Castle Douglas, a small town in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. A Phantom 3 drone was used to video the extent of severe flooding which was caused by heavy, persistent rainfall. Castle Douglas has a loch at the bottom of the town which could not contain the excess water and it flooded, reaching several houses in the town. The video captures the flooding in the town itself, as well as the rural area which surrounds it and includes Meadow Park (home of local football club Threave Rovers), Threave Castle and the surrounding area and flooded roads which lead into the town.
