A black bear wandered into a petrol station and stole one pack of gummy bears.

Jay deGoesbriand, 68, was working in his shop Tiptons Gas Bar in Lake Cowichan, Canada, at 6.27am on October 9 when he was joined by a strange customer.

Security footage shows the bear wander into the store’s open door before appearing to browse through all of the items for sale.

The huge animal then stopped in front of the sweets and carefully picked up one packet of gummy bears before leaving the store before Jay made sure that it left his shop.

Jay said: “He walked by everything and only took the gummy bears. Only one bag out of a box of about 20 or more.

“I have the door open in the mornings and he just moseyed on in. This has never happened to me before in the 16 years of owning the shop.

“I was working at the time – I knew I could be in deep trouble but there was nothing to do about it but stay calm and quiet.

“I got nervous when he came around the corner because if he turned right instead of left, he would have had me pinned.
