Locals in northern China were left in awe as an astonishing number of birds densely filled the skies, evoking scenes reminiscent of the magical world of Harry Potter's Hogwarts.

The video was filmed in Ulanhot in Inner Mongolia on October 20.

The filmer named Sun said: "It was like a dark blanket had been thrown across the sky, there were so many birds, It was truly a jaw-dropping sight, looking like the scene in Harry Potter."

In response to queries about whether the unusual occurrence could be an omen or signal of upcoming seismic activity, the Ulanhot Seismological Bureau assured the public that there were no earthquake warnings tied to the event, suggesting the weather might be a more likely trigger for the birds' exceptional behaviour.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
