A cheeky Beluga whale spread its jaws, terrifying a child watching it at an oceanarium in Tianjin, China, on October 16.

The girl had been leaning on the glass to watch the whale when it swam over and flashed its teeth at her, causing her to cry.

Animal behaviour specialists have said such displays were a sign of aggression in the Beluga whale.

Beluga whales, also known as white whales, are a species of toothed cetaceans known for their distinctive white coloration and rounded head. They inhabit Arctic and sub-Arctic waters and are known for their vocalizations, often referred to as 'canaries of the sea.'
