Protesters clash with police in Panama over mining concession renewal
In a recent video captured by @robishowww on October 25, 2023, in Panama City, Panama, tensions escalated as protesters voiced their opposition to the renewal of a concession to Minera Panamá, a subsidiary of Canadian company First Quantum Minerals, which operates the largest open-pit copper mine in Central America. The demonstration took a violent turn when the protesting groups began hurling stones at riot forces. In response, the police deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd, leading to clashes on the streets of Panama City.
