A rare huge corpse flower is blooming in western Indonesia.

Footage from 27 October shows the Rafflesia Arnoldii flower being discovered in the Sitingkai rainforest, Agam district, West Sumatra province.

Two tourists flew all the way from France to get a closer look at the stinky flower.

Local guide Heru Nofriandi said hundreds of tourists from different countries and for different reasons had come to the carrion flower habitat at Sitingkai.

"Conservation officials have measured the diameter of the flower at 101.5 cm. That is big. Previously it had reached 104 cm. This is the 16th Rafflesia Arnoldii found to be blooming in 2023," Heru added.

The flesh red flower bloomed on Thursday afternoon, 26 October. It is expected to bloom for four days until 30 October, when it will turn black and wither.
