Farmers in Krishnagiri District of Tamilnadu grow flowers including rose, carnation, button rose, marigold in 5000 hectares of open fields and green huts. The flowers are exported to foreign countries as well as sold in domestic market for special occasions.

Especially On the occasion of Dussehra and Diwali, the farmers take care of the plants in anticipation of the rise in the price of flowers. But to their agony flowers like marigold and button rose are being sold for Just Rs 2 per kg. Farmers faces severe losses even they cannot pay the daily wages to the people who work in their fields. And these Tons of harvested flowers are just dumped on the road side as they cannot even pay for the vehicle for transportation. Motorists who used that road stopped their vehicles to pick these flowers on their bags.
